Leadership Council member David Wright traveled to Columbia, South Carolina to join one of our first Partners, U.S. Women in Nuclear, for their Region II Conference. Wright began his remarks explaining how nuclear energy is the backbone of our nation's energy supply - supplying one-fifth of our nation's 24/7 electricity.
Wright emphasized that it will be impossible to meet our state and national carbon reduction goals if we take nuclear plants offline. The existing nuclear fleet currently provides 63% of America's carbon-free energy, and in South Carolina, nuclear generates 97% of their carbon free energy.
